From Feb 2020, Whatsapp will drop support for these iPhones and Android phones

WhatsApp messanger is a popular messaging platform with more than a billion active users. Especially, Whatsapp is very popular in India and during big events and festivals it gets a lot of traffic. This world's most popular messaging app has decided to end support for iPhones running on Apple’s five-year-old software

Whatsapp has informed in it's FAQ page recently that Whatsapp will not support for smartphones running on Android 2.3.7 and iPhones running on iOS 8 from february,2020. And also The company have given a list of android and OS versions in FAQ page which will not be supported by the app after Feb,2020. If you are using Andriod 2.3.7 and iOS 8 phones, you can use the whatsapp till Feb,2020. After that whatsapp will no longer support for your mobile.

Earlier, The Company was said that WhatsApp will not be available in the Microsoft Store after July 1, 2019 and also Whatsapp will drop support for Windows Phone-based smartphones after Dec,2019. This is not the first time Whatsapp has dropped support for older android version mobiles. Because Whatsapp has already stop supporting for Nokia S40, Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and older version phones. Since Whatsapp updating and adding new features regularly, you need a latest Android and iOS version to support those functions.

This update is likely to impact very few users as most of the iPhone users have already upgraded to the newer iOS 12. For new and existing iPhone users, the instant messaging company has now made it compulsory to have at least iOS 9 their device to run WhatsApp. If your Phone hasn't been upgraded in years, you may soon lose access to WhatsApp.

Whatsapp said that Some of the upcoming features require more powerfull phones with more RAM as well as the newer OS. “We don’t explicitly restrict the use of jailbroken or unlocked devices. However, because these modifications might affect the functionality of your device, we can’t provide support for devices using modified versions of the iPhone’s operating system,” said WhatsAppWhatsapp on its FAQ page.

Further The company has said in the latest FAQ page that Whatsapp also supports the phone like JioPhone and jiophone 2 which is running on KaiOS 2.5.1 +. If you are using phones with older operating systems, you won't be able to create new accounts or reverify existing accounts after feb,2020.
